With a paper due next week, an exam tomorrow, and work tonight how are you going to get it all done!? Whether you are looking for some fun ways to distress and focus on your self-care, or just need help finishing that pesky paper Thompson Rivers University can help. Thankfully, TRU is always there to help keep stress levels under control and most importantly, to make sure that your wellbeing is at its best.

If you ever feel anxious throughout the year, you can always drop by TRU’s Wellness Centre for a cup of tea and a quick chat with fellow students and TRU staff. The Centre also set up stress relief stations during exams with mini spas, fun games, healthy snacks, and prizes. And on Thursdays, you can always stop by to say hello to the cutest members of our wellness team: the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs. Because really, what’s better than puppy cuddles?

On the days when you just need to blow off steam, drop in on the free yoga, Zumba, boot camp or kickboxing class run by TRU Recreation. Exercise creates endorphins and endorphins make people happy, right? Exercise is also key to self-care -- you’ll get a great work out and take care of yourself. They also have intramural sports!

When school work bogs you down, take advantage of the free Writing, Economics and Math Help Centres. There is always someone there to talk through a math problem or walk you through paper proofing.

No idea how to start distressing? A great first step is to make a one-on-one appointment with a TRU counsellor. TRU’s Counselling Department offers personal, academic and career counselling so just drop in or make an appointment. We also have a fantastic community of professors, classmates, support staff and admin who want you to be healthy and happy. Wellness isn’t just fad, it’s about taking care of yourself today so you can continue to grow.

Don’t let stress get the best of you! TRU will help you not only survive the stressful times but thrive during them. We want you to find your wellness.
