Finance 101: Apply for Scholarships at York University
Your guide to applying for scholarships, bursaries and awards at York!
It’s an exciting time for future university students: the next step in your education is on the horizon! Whether or not you’ve received an offer, it’s never too early to start planning your university finances. York University is proud to support students with entrance scholarships, awards, bursaries and work/study programs. Follow the steps below to explore and apply for funding opportunities:
Step 1: Research Scholarships and Financial Aid Programs
Your first step is to research funding programs, including external scholarships, government financial aid and financing from the university you plan to attend.
If you’re a York University applicant, explore funding options by selecting your applicant cohort on the Scholarships & Financial Aid website. This tool will help you identify financial support you may be eligible for, including external awards, York University Automatic Entrance Scholarships and on-campus employment opportunities. Use the Award Search page to view every award, scholarship, prize and bursary offered at York!
Step 2: Complete Your Student Financial Profile
Once you have identified funding options, complete your Student Financial Profile (SFP) on MyFile. The SFP online application is required to apply for scholarships, bursaries and on-campus employment programs at York. Some scholarships close as early as February 15, so complete your SFP before receiving an offer of admission to be considered for as many funding opportunities as possible. The SFP closes on April 1.
Step 3: Apply
Once you’ve researched funding options and prepared applications, it’s time to apply! York University Entrance awards are automatically granted based on G.P.A., but others may require a separate application including reference letters and personal statements submitted through MyFile.
