Description:

Humber’s Bachelor of Film and Media Production degree program combines theory and practice with the goal of preparing you for a rewarding career in media. You will learn a variety of screenwriting and storytelling techniques, and how to combine them into compelling visual narratives. You will be taught by professors highly experienced in the film industry, and benefit from their insights and experiences.



This rigorous program covers a broad range of practical and academic topics such as direction, picture and sound editing, cinematography, videography, and post-production. You will study both fictional and nonfiction filmmaking. You will gain vital research and management abilities and attend seminars hosted by industry professionals, giving you access to valuable insights and contacts. In addition to standard film school topics, this program focuses on multi-platform delivery, helping ensure graduates are ready to take advantage of new digital content channels such as the internet and mobile devices. A film and media theory component is combined with courses such as entertainment law and media entrepreneurship, preparing graduates for their careers in film. A capstone project in your final year will allow you to apply your skills and demonstrate your creative vision.

To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:


- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:


- Grade 12 English (ENG4U or equivalent) minimum 70 per cent


- Five Grade 12 U or M courses in addition to those listed above


- Overall minimum grade point average (GPA) 70 per cent

College or university transfer status

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 560] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 84] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 78]
Additional Admission Requirements:

    Applicants will complete a media project which explores one of the following themes:



  • What Makes Us Human
  • Overcoming Obstacles

    Applicants must also complete a written reflection of 350 to 500 words which explores their creative process in the media project and its intersection with their intentions as a future Humber film student.
