In this age of instance on-line communication, organizations across all sectors of the economy have unprecedented opportunities to promote their presence in the global marketplace 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Demand is growing for public relations practitioners who know how to communicate effectively and take advantage of the latest opportunities presented by the World Wide Web, social media and other technologies. Government, corporate, small-business and non-profit organizations are all seeking people with the skills to keep them on top of the latest public relations trends and techniques.

The channels may be changing, but the fundamental goal of public relations remains the same - to build positive relationships and reputations with an organization's key audiences. Public relations is an integral part of the management function of an organization. This two-semester program will expose students to the theory and application of key public relations tools and strategies. Students will develop an understanding of the purpose and role of public relations within an organization.

Prerequisites:

    Graduation of a recognized two- or three-year post-secondary program is required. A communications background is recommended.
