Description:

The BA (Hons) English degree at the University of Lincoln explores a lively and varied collection of texts within their historical and theoretical contexts, from Shakespeare and the Renaissance to post-colonialism and post-modernism. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to consider literature from a variety of theoretical, historical, and cultural perspectives. The course combines historical breadth in modules on Victorian literature, Modernism, Romanticism, and contemporary writing, with global reach through attention to American authors and world literatures.

There are opportunities to explore poetry, fiction, drama, and less traditional literary forms, such as life writing and graphic novels. Students can choose to develop a portfolio of creative writing pieces, as well as study texts from other creative industries including film, television, and advertising. A broad range of topics enable students to pursue areas of particular interest while developing critical-thinking skills in individual research projects.
