Areas of Expertise

UNB offers graduate work and research in over 30 different fields and welcomes students from every corner of the globe. It enjoys a high profile as a research institution, and its faculty and students have won many national and international awards. The appointment of Canada Research Chairs in fields as varied as Atlantic Canada History, Biology (including the Canadian Rivers Institute), Chemical Engineering, Humanities, Cyber Security, Biomedical Engineering, and Social Policy all speak to the vigor of the UNB research environment. As well, exciting international opportunities exist for graduate students through endowments such as the John S. Little Overseas Fellowships, the Fredrik and Catherine Eaton UNB-Queen's University Belfast Program. The William S. Lewis Doctoral Fellowships bring distinction and generous financial support exclusive to UNB.

On Campus Housing

For residence accommodation, the campuses in both Fredericton and Saint John offer apartment-style and single room residences. Every suite comes with a private three-piece bath and full kitchen, equipped with all major appliances, including a dishwasher and microwave oven. Meal plans are available on the Fredericton campus even if you live off-campus.

Off Campus Housing

Off-campus housing is convenient and affordable in both Saint John and Fredericton.

Incoming Students

Our Graduate Students Association (GSA) host Orientation Activities. Students also have a departmental Orientation. Student services staff on both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses are committed to helping you achieve your personal and academic goals by providing support in areas such as: Career and personal counseling; Financial aid; Childcare; Health and wellness, and; Accessibility services.
