A dynamic and progressive university in the heart of Sudbury, Laurentian University offers 106 undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral programs. Our flexible degree structure means you can customize your major and minor studies to create a "modular degree" that's unique to your strengths and interests.


At Laurentian, small class sizes ensure you're treated as an individual and supported through your education. We offer programs you won't find elsewhere, like our Forensic Science programs, accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC), and our Bachelor of Commerce in Sports Administration.

The Harquail School of Earth Sciences at Laurentian University offers some of the most comprehensive field- and laboratory-based Earth Science research and education programs in North America. What about design and architecture? Our state-of-the-art School of Architecture highlights design and culture for Northern Ontario, and houses our Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture.


Not to mention, Laurentian has a tried, tested and true Faculty of Health that offers one-of-a-kind programs in Sports Psychology and Indigenous Social Work. Looking for a multidisciplinary program? Our Faculty of Arts offers open and flexible programs in Psychology, Criminology and Interdisciplinary Studies to name a few.

Home to the Goodman School of Mines, we are your one-stop access point to the most comprehensive mining education available in Canada. What's more, we have a state-of-the-art Vale Living with Lakes international research centre, and a remarkable LEEDS-certified building on the shore of Lake Ramsey (the largest of several lakes on our beautiful 700-acre campus).


Our Bharti School of Engineering students will take full advantage of modern labs and state of the art equipment and installations housed in the new 60,000 sq. ft. Cliff Fielding building. Laurentian is also the only university in Ontario that offers a 4+1 Concurrent Education program wherein the student can earn a 4-year honours degree and then a Bachelor of Education in just 1 additional year without studying through their summers.

Career Planning

On the minds of every student is 'what comes next?' and Laurentian University wants you to know we've got your career options in mind.

The Centre for Academic Excellence and the Career and Employment Centre provide students with opportunities to customize their degree and apply for relevant jobs in their field during their degree.

Specific programs offer co-ops, placements, hands-on experience and opportunities unique to the various professions students may want to pursue. Laurentian prides itself on the satisfaction of its students, but knows that once you leave our home the next part of your life is just as important.

Sports

Laurentian University Varsity Athletics is committed to the provision, promotion, and facilitation of excellence in sports and academics. Laurentian Athletics strives to make a positive impact on the well-being of Laurentian student-athletes, students, and the Northeastern Ontario community.

Objectives:

Cultural

Laurentian University provides students with ample opportunity to learn about and explore the richness of the Francophone, Anglophone and Indigenous cultures. Through on-campus events and off-campus festivals, we want all students to learn about these cultures in fun, interesting ways.

Celebrating Anishinaabe culture and sharing traditions and knowledge are part of everyday life on campus. Ongoing engagement opportunities including traditional ceremonies, language offerings, storytelling, celebrations, cultural workshops, lecture series, student project fairs and others are hosted by the Indigenous Student Affairs office and the Indigenous Students Circle.

Furthermore, Laurentian offers numerous cultural activities from around the world including, but not limited to the Greek Festival, Società Caruso, Irish Heritage Club, and the German Canadian Club.

Special Services

Providing assistance to students with specific requirements, the Accessibility Services office encourages equal access for individuals with particular needs in the post-secondary education system. This department offers counselling, advocacy, study skills, and numerous technical aids to students. Laurentian has installed ramps, power doors, and accessible washrooms throughout the University.

International Involvement

Laurentian University is one of three universities in Canada, which are part of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). There are currently over 200 universities involved with ISEP worldwide. Last year, Laurentian students had the opportunity to study in the following countries: Austria; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Iceland; Italy; Japan; Korea; Latvia; the Netherlands; Sweden; Switzerland; and the United States. Most exchange universities offer courses in either English or French and options exist for most programs of study, including those at the master’s level. In addition, many departments offer independent exchange programs.
