Consider West Vancouver for your secondary school education
From West Vancouver School District International Student Programs
Located between the mountains and the ocean, West Vancouver is the most beautiful and affluent residential area in the Greater Vancouver Region, the world's most desirable place to live. West Vancouver School District has had an internationally recognized International Student Program since 1982. All of our 17 schools, 14 elementary schools and three secondary schools are fully accredited and equipped with the most up to date technology and facilities in the province of British Columbia. West Vancouver students earn the highest percentage of Provincial Government Scholarships in the province. Whether you come to improve your English or to graduate with a Dogwood diploma, West Vancouver School District offers the best quality and the ultimate choices!
Long-term Programs
Qualified international students from grade 8 to 12 can study alongside Canadian students in our three secondary schools. Many students who come to West Vancouver plan to complete their secondary school education with a view to entering a Canadian university. We offer outstanding University Preparatory Programs to help students achieve their goals. International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Programs are available to international students too. Advanced levels of study earn students credits towards their diploma, while preparing them for studies in post-secondary institutions.
Elementary students in grade K to 7 are accepted based on their academic performance. Parent(s) must accompany their children through the study.
Short-term Programs
With flexible start and end dates, we offer short-term programs (under 6 months) throughout the year allowing international students from 11 to 18 years old to take advantage of an exceptional education opportunity in one of the top-rated school districts in Canada. Joining in the Full Integration Program, students attend regular classes together with Canadian students. Coming in summer or winter time, students can have rewarding experiences of intensive English instruction and the best recreational activities in and around Vancouver. Training programs for teachers and school administrators are also available, providing the flexibility that busy professionals require.
Homestay
Staying with a Canadian family is an enriching cultural experience and is an important component of our programs. This is an excellent opportunity for students to improve their English and to establish close friendships.
Support
Each school has an international student adviser who can address issues as they arise. Counselling staff help students who are seeking information about future steps towards post-secondary education in Canada or elsewhere.
