Study during the week and explore the Rocky Mountains on the weekends…
welcome to life as a University of Alberta student!

At the University of Alberta, you can live a great student life and truly discover Canadian culture.  U of A is located in Edmonton, Alberta just a few hours away from the Rocky Mountains, one of the most beautiful areas in the world.   What better way to discover Canada and take a break from your studies than to join one of our student weekend trips and visit Jasper and Banff?  You can see wildlife, go skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and camping with other U of A students…or visit the canyons of Drumheller, also known as the Dinosaur capital of Canada!  There is so much to do and explore here in Alberta.
Watch as these U of A international students enjoy their time in the Rockies!

Edmonton offers a great blend of exciting city life alongside the tranquility of the outdoors.  After classes, you can visit West Edmonton Mall for some of Canada’s best shopping, spend the day outside in the beautiful river valley, attend 30+ festivals throughout the year, and more.

On campus, there are many activities to keep you busy between classes, help you to meet new people, and explore the city’s attractions:

•    Visit the International Centre! You can ask questions, make new friends, take part in social events, or just spend some time relaxing between classes.
•    Check out our 25 Golden Bears and Pandas varsity teams, which include hockey, football, volleyball, basketball, and more.
•    Attend Transitions, our three-day orientation for new international students.  Meet other international students and get a fantastic introduction to U of A and Edmonton.
•    Share your culture with the local community by joining the Bridges program. You can make presentations about your home country and culture to local groups such as high school students.
•    Read the Gateway Student Newspaper, or write for it!
•    Spend some time in HUB Mall, U of A’s very own shopping centre and popular student residence.
•    Join student clubs and associations—there are more than 300!

How are other students enjoying life at U of A?  Watch these student videos and find out.
