Experience Student Life at Brock University
Coming to a new country to study English as a Second Language can be exciting and scary at the same time. However, you shape the experience you have and this means getting involved in student life outside of the classroom!
At Brock University (St. Catharines, Ontario) our Intensive English Language Program (IELP) students are involved in many activities on- and off-campus, and it is all part of being a Brock University student!
Our 14-week programs give students many chances to get involved through organized activities, as well as giving them the tools to explore on their own. Each term we offer three academic activities that coordinate directly with what the students are learning in the classroom. Past academic activities have included visits to Toronto, wine tours, magic shows, festivals, historic sites, dramatic performances, and agriculture tours. Outside of these activities, students are also given the opportunity to go on organized activities, such as trips to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, hiking, picnics, sports games, holiday celebrations, and get-togethers!
In addition to the organized activities, we encourage our students to get involved in life on- and off-campus through volunteering. Students have the opportunity to volunteer within the IELP, as well as with the Brock University community. Volunteer opportunities include peer helping, parades, charity run/walks, days of service, food drives, cooking demonstrations, and cultural celebrations. This gives students the chance to get to know other Brock University students, as well as showcase their culture.
There is always something to do at Brock University in the IELP!
