Recognized as Canada’s premier polytechnic, SAIT Polytechnic has welcomed more than 1200 international students from over 143 countries worldwide. Leaving home and travelling to study in a new country can be a stressful experience. Even though moving to Canada is something which has been planned and prepared for, the effect that moving to Canada may have on new international students is surprising. To help our international students settle into life at SAIT, The International Centre offers a variety of services and programs to provide them with opportunities to become involved in campus life, make new friends and to learn about Canada. The International Centre is to be a "Home Away From Home" for our international students at SAIT Polytechnic.

Some of the services and programs offered at the International Centre to help our international students get settled at SAIT are listed as follows:

  • Pre-departure Assistance
  • Airport pick-up
  • Cultural counseling
  • Accommodation assistance including Homestay and residence
  • Social, cultural and recreation activities both on and off campus
  • International Student Orientation (ISO)

ISO is offered twice each academic year at the beginning of both the fall and winter terms. It is an important event to welcome our new students to campus, to introduce them to the SAIT community and to provide valuable information about resources on campus that our students will need in order to succeed during their time at SAIT.

Throughout each semester, there are a variety of social and cultural activities for our students to experience the Canadian cultures and traditions. Some of the highlighted events are listed below:

  • West Edmonton Mall Shopping Trip
  • Horseback Riding Trip
  • Banff National Park Trip
  • Skiing/Snowboarding Trip
  • Pumpkin Carving Party
  • Christmas Open House
