Moving to a different country can be a very busy and exciting time for students. The University of Waterloo’s International Student Office(ISO) provides a detailed guide to help students prepare for moving to Canada and their new life on campus. You’ll learn about:

Getting to Canada
The ISO guide tells you which documents you need to enter Canada and how to apply for them. It also covers making travel and housing arrangements and explains how to transfer funds and pay your fees.

Getting Settled
When you arrive on campus, you may feel a bit lost. But don’t worry: staff in the Student Life Centre is available 24 hours a day to give you any assistance you may need.

Our international offices’ advising services can help you open a bank account, arrange for health coverage and apply for social insurance. You’ll also find resources to help you improve your English and learn about your new community with the help of a current student.

Preparing for the start of school
Before classes start, you’ll getyour student ID card, review your class schedule, purchase books, and take part in orientation activities. Remember, the ISO is always available to provide all the information you need to settle in to your new surroundings and get ready for the start of classes.
