Brescia Builds “Bridges” for International Students
Since Brescia University College opened its doors in 1919, we have welcomed female students of all faiths from all four corners of the world. We continue to take an international student-centred approach today.
Brescia has its own International Program Co-ordinator, Christina Lord, who is dedicated to providing students and their families with quality, student-centred services, including the International Bridging Program. The Program is a unique orientation service that allows students and parents to become familiar with Brescia, the city of London, and the Canadian culture. Topics range from planning a grocery budget, to time management, to dressing for Ontario weather. The goal of the program is for international students and their families to feel welcomed and supported in their new “home” at Brescia.
Brescia also has its own Multicultural Club that brings international and domestic students together. The club allows for different cultural and religious backgrounds to connect and learn from one another.
Upon arrival at Brescia, every international student receives the International Student Guide that includes contact information about services, people, and ‘what you need to know’ lists that will be applicable to campus life at Brescia.
Annual events throughout the year include the International Student Dinner, a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving dinner, a Cultural Festival as well as a trip to Quebec, ice skating, and a ‘Farewell Gathering’.
