Welcome to Fleming College

Fleming College offers a warm welcome and a range of specialized supports for its new international students.

It begins as soon as students arrive in Canada with free transportation from the airport. And for registered students arriving in late August, free accommodation for up to five days is provided in Fleming’s student residences. For students arriving outside of this time frame, temporary low-cost accommodation options are also available while students make housing arrangements.

Upon arrival, Fleming’s International Education Officer will give students a detailed orientation which includes insights into Canadian culture, an orientation to the campus and community, and help with setting up a new home away from home.

The Office of International Education at Fleming will continue to connect with students regularly and often to ensure they are adjusting well academically, socially and culturally.

Every international student will be enrolled in a health insurance plan and students will receive assistance in filling out required forms. Students can also access professional, confidential health care through Fleming Health Services at the campuses in Peterborough and Lindsay.

English as a Second Language classes are available to international students to enhance their learning experience. Free tutoring is also offered in any subject through group tutorials and drop-in workshops.

Fleming College has seen significant growth in its international student population. September 2012 saw a 270% increase in international students. There are close to 270 new and returning international students now attending Fleming, the most ever in the history of the college.
