International Work Experience Program at King’s

The I.W.E. Program offers international students part-time positions on campus.

The International Work Experience (I.W.E.) Program at King’s University College offers international students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through an on-campus job in a variety of departments. The I.W.E. Program provides students with training and experience that will assist them in further studies and their eventual entrance into the workforce while earning a source of income.

Yi Zhu, a second year student from China studying Business, Management and Organizational Studies at King’s, works in the Registrar’s Office as a Student Assistant.

“The most important thing about the program is that international students get involved in a real work environment. It’s a good opportunity to get practical, hands-on experience. I practice my English while handling phone calls, and help around the office with filing and other duties,” says Zhu. “King’s is also very flexible with our classes and schedule shifts around our timetable.”

I.W.E. students can also work in various departments across campus, including Physical Plant, Information Technology Services, The Write Place, and King’s International Office. Tracy Cunningham, Associate Registrar at King’s, encourages international students to apply to the I.W.E. Program. “It is a program geared towards balancing the student’s academic success in that it works on the principles of time management; providing accommodating work hours that consider the demands of the student’s academic timetable.”
