8 Easy Ways To Fund Your Education At Lakehead University

1. Automatic Entrance Scholarships
These are awarded automatically to applicants coming directly from a Canadian high school, are renewable, and are based on averages beginning at 80%. If you have 95%+ average, you will receive FREE domestic tuition! Check out our entrance scholarship grid.

2. Entrance Scholarships for International Students
International Entrance Scholarships are automatically awarded, with no application required, to non-Canadian citizens who are entering Lakehead University. For more details, visit our website.

3. Entrance Bursary
Our entrance bursary for Canadian high school applicants is based on financial need, as well as other criteria. If you live more than 700 km from the campus of your choice, you may be eligible for additional travel bursary funds.

Value: Up to $2,300

• General Bursary up to $1,500.00, and/or
• Travel Bursary top up of $800.00

4. Transfer Award
Value: $500-$1,000

• For Canadian applicants transferring from college or another university
• Deadline to apply: June 28, 2017

5. Transfer/Mature Student Bursary
Value: Up to $1,000

• For Canadian citizens transferring to Lakehead University from a college or university, or coming to Lakehead University with no previous post-secondary education (but not directly from high school)
• Deadline to apply: June 28, 2017

6. Presidential Scholarships
Value: $30,000 ($7,500/year for 4 years)

• For Canadian high school applicants who have a minimum 90% average and who have demonstrated leadership in their community.
• Application due by April 15, 2017

7. Campus Tour Bursary Program
Value: up to $500 towards travel expenses for prospective students to visit Lakehead University

• For Canadian grade 12 high school students who are travelling more than 150 km (one way) to visit the campus.
• Apply within 3 weeks of your visit. Bursary is applied to your student account.

8. Lakehead University Specialist High Skills Major Award
Value: $500 Award

• Application due by April 15, 2017
• Eligible for high school graduates from SHSMs in Environment, Health and Wellness, Mining, Business, Arts and Culture, or Sports.
• Apply online

9. Pioneer Student Award

• Available to students attending the Lakehead University-Georgian College programs in the inaugural 2017/18 year.
• The LU/GC partnership guarantees every student enrolled in the partnership programs at least $4,000 to help fund the first two years of their program
