It’s that time of year again – back to school. Are you thinking about attending Vancouver Island University? You’ll want to connect with one of our Recruitment Officers to get your questions answered. For those who have decided on VIU already, here are four tips to help you get settled in.

Take a Tour
Getting familiar with the campus is one way to help ease the back-to-school nerves. Sign up for an individual visit, group visit, self-guided visit or check out our virtual tour. Our friendly Student Ambassadors also run Summer Warm-up Sessions throughout August, during which you’ll tour the campus, get your student card and learn about different student services.

Get Oriented
If you’re registered to start classes at VIU this fall, the best introduction to life as a student here is to come to RockVIU: Welcome 2 Campus, which takes place on Thursday, August 31. Activities include an information fair, fun games, a chance to meet with your faculty, and more.

Get Involved
The best way to meet other students and feel part of the University is to do fun stuff on campus. Join a club, go see a play at the Malaspina Theatre, check out a film, listen to a guest speaker or check out the many events and activities Campus Rec offers, from hiking trips to intramurals and fitness classes. Visit the TEXT website to learn more.

Get Prepared
Getting familiar with academic standards at the university level and where to go for help will pave the way to a successful first year. VIU’s Learning Matters website is a great place to get some learning tips, study strategies and info about different supports available.
