Why you should study abroad

Save

Nowadays, through advancements in technology and communication, our world has become more globalized than ever before. This has made it much easier for people around the world to connect and experience different cultures. It’s no secret that well-travelled, bilingual and global-minded individuals are thriving in the job market, since employers expect that these will not only be considered benefits but requirements for the workforce of the future. With that in mind, many students are now opting to study abroad as a means of obtaining these skills. If these are not enough reasons to start packing your bags, here are a few more:

1. It will open up your mind to new concepts: Being immersed in a new culture oftentimes leads to discovering new ways of thinking and altering your perspective. Although we like to believe that Google is our window to the world, it’s important to see and experience it for yourself.

2. You will become a better communicator and problem solver: Having to communicate in another language does not always mean speaking. Sometimes, it means finding creative ways to converse and becoming aware of other cultures’ customs (for example, bowing in Tokyo or queuing in London).

3. It will be fun! Lastly, studying abroad will enrich your life with new experiences. You will meet people from around the world and create memories for a lifetime. Your time at University is ideal to shape your mind and find yourself - Most of all if you’re away from home.

At Middlesex University London, our dedicated Student Support Team is committed to helping students make the most out of international experience.
