With classes winding down and exams coming up, the end of term can be a stressful time for students.

That’s why, at the University of Lethbridge, we try to give you the support you need to manage stress and practice self-care to look after your physical, emotional, and mental needs.

“When you’re stressed, it’s easy for self-care to fall by the wayside, especially when you’re extremely busy, physically or mentally exhausted, or low on money,” says uLethbridge Student Engagement Officer Kyra Gillert. “We want to raise awareness of how important it is to take care of yourself.”

In addition to providing services like tutoring, helping develop learning strategies, and counselling, uLethbridge gives out free self-care kits around the end of each semester that include items like chocolate, herbal tea and even mittens along with tips and strategies for practicing self-care, like eating healthy or staying physically active.

“The kits are always well-received,” says Kyra. “Students really appreciate that we’re looking out for them and it really can brighten their day.”

Remember, self-care is not a selfish act; it’s an absolutely vital part of life. So please be sure to take the time you need to engage in activities that relax and rejuvenate you during this stressful season. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t be afraid to reach out for help; uLethbridge’s Student Success Centre is here for you!
