Networking while studying doesn't have to be impossible.

"It's not what you know, it's who you know." Is the old saying true? In reality, it takes both to pursue your dream career. Here's how you can make connections for the future while studying right now.

Know and develop your skills

We get it — being a student is intense. At the end of a long day, all you want to do is get home and crash. Instead of turning to Netflix, try using your downtime to develop your skills. Rest by getting out and practicing your photography or starting a blog for your best ideas. Doing something else you enjoy will give you a much-needed break from school, and your time off will become time well spent on your abilities!

Make opportunities work for you

You bring unique skills and passions to every position you take — whether it's serving on student government, being an RA in dorm, or working on campus. Make these things work for you! Look for ways to use your skills where you're already spending your time. This way, you can develop your passions while also being a part of your school's community. Your resum? will definitely thank you.

Invest in your community

Good community is a gift, so be aware of the people around you. Check out the opportunities available on campus. Get to know the staff and faculty at your school. Join a group that shares your interests... or start one! And then reap the benefits!

We can't escape the need to network. But following these tips will help you connect with people while doing the things you love. Grow in what you know, grow with the people around you, and grow towards your future!
