York University provides students with a career-connected education that helps you develop expertise and prepare for your future. York students can gain professional skills by participating in York’s experiential learning and networking opportunities. Learn about York’s career development programs below:

  1. 1. Career Centre

One of the best ways to prepare for your career is right here on campus: current students can visit York’s Career Centre or explore their career development tools online. This resource provides York students with workshops, cover letter and resume critiques, practice interview sessions, employer recruitment events, and job fairs. During your first year at York, you can even book an individual advising appointment to discuss your professional goals with a Career Counsellor.

  2. 2. Recruitment and Networking Events

The Career Centre hosts Career Fairs and employer recruitment events to help students meet employers and discover new organizations. To find out about on-campus Employer Recruitment Sessions, check the Career Centre website. Additionally, students who are looking to expand your network can participate in the Take A Student To Eat (TASTE) program, which connects York students with alumni mentors.

  3. 3. Work/Study Roles & Internships

York students can start their careers while they’re still in school by taking part in York’s Work/Study opportunities, including part-time roles working with administration and faculties, as well as roles that focus on research and campus engagement. Eligible undergraduates can apply for Research at York (RAY) positions to join faculty research projects; College Life at York (CLAY) jobs, which focus on enhancing the student experience; or the York Engaged Students (YES) student leadership program. Eligible students can apply for York’s Internship program or find other employment opportunities on the Career Centre job board.

York is dedicated to helping students launch their careers—explore the Future Students website to learn more about experiential learning opportunities at York!
