Lingo: balance, shortage, and surplus

Quick note about terminology before you dig in! The Outlook to 2028 column has three possible results. Here's what they mean:

• Balance: Roughly the same number of job seekers as job openings
• Surplus: More job seekers than job openings
• Shortage: Fewer job seekers than job openings

So if you're looking for a great career with lots of potential openings, check out careers with the Shortage tag. Experiment with the data and see what jumps out at you.
