Find a study abroad pathway that fits your goals at George Brown College.
Have you pictured what your post-secondary education will look like? What do you see? Are you in Canada? Are you studying abroad? Can’t decide? If you’re on the fence about studying in Canada or abroad, why not do both? At George Brown College, you can easily get the best of both worlds!
Gone are the days where your only option to study abroad is spending a semester outside of Canada. Now, there are plenty of opportunities for you to gain international and intercultural awareness, knowledge, and skills. Check out the many study abroad options available at George Brown:
1. Outbound exchange
This is the typical style of studying abroad that comes to mind when people think of pursuing part of their education outside of Canada. So, what would this look like at George Brown? You’ll spend an entire semester (or two if you want!) abroad. You’ll attend one of our partner schools, take credits that can transfer back to George Brown, explore new cultures, and expand your network.
Depending on your program, you could spend your exchange in countries like Denmark, Japan, England, Brazil, and many more! Make sure you check with your department to see what your opportunities for an exchange may be.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, check out George Brown’s page on outbound exchanges.
2. Study abroad
So, what’s the difference between an outbound exchange and a study abroad tour? The timing! A study abroad tour with George Brown can range from 10 days to three weeks. This will give you a taste of the world while you take study abroad courses that can be put towards your degree requirements.
You’ll travel with faculty and peers as you visit different cities and countries gaining a deeper understanding of local cultures and earn an enriching educational experience along the way! Some of our previous study abroad tours include students from the School of Fashion and Jewellery travelling to Peru and the Andean Mountains, and students in the Chef school travelling to Tokyo and Kyoto.
Keep in mind that the destinations for a study abroad tour rotate fairly often. New locations come and go, so make sure you check out the site or reach out to faculty to know what’s available.
3. International pathways to further study
Take your international academic experience further than one simple semester. You may be able to complete your degree or master’s program abroad at one of the international academic institutions that George Brown has partnered with.
For example, we’re partnered with IMI International Management Institution Switzerland, the University of the Arts London in England, and Lawrence Technological University in the US. For more of our partners, check out the international pathways to further study page.
You’ve got plenty of opportunities to gain independence and earn valuable experience by studying abroad. So, which one will you choose?
