4 Reasons Why You Can't Miss This Fall's Study and Go Abroad/SchoolFinder Fairs
The Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs are back! Find us in Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary from October 17 to 27.
It’s back-to-school season and that means education fairs are back in full swing! Whether you’re in grade 11 or 12 wanting to scout out your options for after high school, you’re finishing up your undergrad degree and want to go to grad school, or you’ve decided to go back to school after working, education fairs are an incredible, free resource to explore your options and discover new possibilities.
This fall the Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs are joining together to offer you an even greater education fair experience you won’t want to miss.
Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs will be in five different cities this fall:
If you’re interested in planning the next step in your education, and learning about scholarships, travel, work, and volunteer experiences, then check out these four reasons why you should attend a Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fair this fall:
1. Meet with schools from Canada and around the world
The best part of an education fair is the opportunity to meet with schools from all over the world in one day! Check out the Canadian pavilion for local and out-of-province universities and colleges if you want to study in Canada, or explore the international pavilion to meet with schools from around the world, including the UK, US, Australia, Switzerland, France, and more!
You’ll be able to speak with representatives from each school to get your questions answered about programs, scholarships, residence, student life, and more! If you need an idea of what you should ask exhibitors, especially if you’ll be studying abroad, then check out these top 8 questions to ask exhibitors.
There are also more than just schools in attendance! Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs also have organizations in the Travel Zone ready to talk to you about working abroad, internships, immersive language travel programs, and volunteering. So, even if you’re thinking about taking a gap year or spending a summer travelling and boosting your resumé, you’ll find plenty of organizations at the Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs that can help you achieve this goal.
2. Informational seminars in every city
At each fair, there are free 30-minute information sessions where you can sit in and learn more about individual schools, programs, and more. There are many benefits to sitting in on presentations that target your interests, such as:
- discovering how you can fund your education with scholarships
- getting a better idea of what it takes to study abroad
- discovering admission requirements
- exploring your student life options: clubs, sports, etc.
- learning more about specialized information regarding specific programs
- having all your questions answered immediately (no waiting for an email reply!)
- getting a personalized introduction to each school
- exploring the careers your program could lead to
Plus, there’ll be a featured seminar on finding and applying to scholarships in every city that begins right before the fair, so you won’t miss any of the action! Make sure you check out the seminar schedule to find the presentations that you’re interested in the most.
3. Make great connections
A great advantage of attending an in-person education fair is you’ll get to meet plenty of other students who are in the same boat as you. While you’re sitting in the seminars, visiting exhibitor booths, and exploring the fair, strike up a conversation with the person beside you. Who knows, you could end up making a friend at your future school before you’ve even applied!
Making great connections at fairs doesn’t stop with other students. You can also make connections with exhibitor representatives. Each person that you speak with has some knowledge that could help you down the line. Make sure you grab a business card from them or get their email so you can follow up with any other questions you may have.
4. You could win the grand prize draw!
Education fairs are a great place to get cool swag and win prizes. Many exhibitors will have their own goodies to give away, but you won’t want to miss out on the grand prize draw at the Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs! By registering in advance online and attending the event, you will be entered into a draw to win a free flight to anywhere in the world on Air Canada.
Where would you go if you won? Check out last spring’s winner, Sophia, and read all about what she thought of the fair and her trip to Poland and other areas in Europe.
