TMU's Transition Foundations Program for Mature Learners
Mature students can explore this pathway to university, with the possibility of a full-tuition scholarship.
The Transition Foundations Program at Toronto Metropolitan University caters to learners who have the motivation, potential, and stability required to be successful in post-secondary education, but have educational gaps and/or lack the formal admissions requirements.
The Transitions Foundations Program is geared toward those candidates who have the potential for success in post-secondary education, but also have educational gaps that have resulted in incomplete admissions requirements for traditional pathways into post-secondary studies.
Candidates may have previously had negative educational experiences, resulting in being unable to complete high school, or have been away from formal education for several years. Upon successful completion of the Transition Foundations Program, learners will be awarded a recognition of completion from The Chang School of Continuing Education.
Learners who successfully complete the Transition Foundations Program may choose to:

Time commitment
Learners in the Transition Foundations Program should expect to commit two to three evenings per week for four semesters.
All courses offered are fully online, with some synchronous and others asynchronous (please check individual course information). For the synchronous courses, virtual lectures typically take place from 6:30-9:30 PM ET. For the asynchronous courses, you will not be required to be online at a specific time.
An additional six to ten hours per week will be required for homework (including readings, assignments, research, and writing), and campus resource appointments.
Grades
In order to successfully complete the Transition Foundations Program, and to be eligible for admission into a selected Toronto Metropolitan degree program, learners must have a minimum course grade of C+ for each term, and a passing grade in all three Academic Success Foundations courses.

Fees and other costs
Tuition for the Transition Foundations Program is approximately $825 per semester. Materials cost approximately $100 per semester. Please note that these prices are approximate and are subject to change.
Learners in the Transition Foundations Program require a minimum of a year and a half (four semesters) to complete the program. Additional time may be required based on the learner's English level and desired degree program.
Finances are unfortunately a common barrier faced by many learners in their educational journey. To address this, learners in the Transition Foundations Program have the opportunity to apply for awards and bursaries available only to students in this program in order to supplement the cost of the courses.
