Get to know the University of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia (UWA) is Perth’s oldest University, established over 100 years ago and currently ranked 90th in the world (QS 2023). We have a number of subjects in the World’s Top 50 including Marine Sciences, Oceanography, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Environmental and Mining Engineering, Agriculture, Psychology, and more (QS 2023/ARWU 2022).

UWA is adjacent to the Swan River, with our Perth campus often voted one of the most picturesque in Australia with iconic sandstone buildings sitting among heritage-listed gardens. We’re just 10 minutes from Perth’s main shopping and business district and close to many of the city’s stunning beaches.

On campus, you’ll have an array of essential amenities to enjoy, including cafés, libraries, bookshops, a vibrant cultural precinct, and tons of clubs and societies to join and experience student life to its fullest. Our supportive Student Guild means you can try your hand at volunteering, get independent advice on a range of matters, or attend one of the many varied events on- and off-campus.

You’ll get a post-study working visa

Studying in Perth will also allow you to have an additional year of a post-study working visa after you have graduated, so that means that bachelor degree students can stay up to 5 years and work after their degree, and Masters students (minimum 2 years of study) can stay and work up to 6 years after graduating — this is an amazing opportunity to combine study with a real life/work experience!

Global Excellence Scholarships

Our Global Excellence Scholarships are awarded as tuition fee discounts based on your Canadian high school or University results and are available for all of the above-mentioned subject areas for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The 2023 value is up to $12,000 AUD per year (approximately $10,750 CAD) off the cost of your course fees for the duration of your study. Depending on the cost of your course, this could be up to 1/3 off your course costs.

Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship

The Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to high-performing athletes, coaches, and officials from across the globe who study with us. The 2023 value is up to $12,000 AUD per year (approximately $10,750 CAD).
