• 170 EUR ($249 CAD) per year at the bachelor level
• 243 EUR ($356 CAD) per year at the master level

2. Similar degree structure

When studying abroad, sometimes you’ll need to adapt to different degree pathways. Luckily, France’s higher education system is very similar to Canada’s! In Canada, an undergraduate degree is three to four years, depending on if you’re in a general or specialized program. In France, a bachelor’s degree is called a Licence and takes three years to complete. A master’s degree in France also takes two years to complete, and a PhD program can last anywhere from three to eight years.

So, if you find a program you’re passionate about, you could potentially complete your degree at the same time — or even earlier — than your Canadian cohorts!

A great option for part-time work is with your university. Your work schedule will be adapted to your class timetable, and you may be able to get work experience in the field you’re interested in!

After you complete your bachelor’s degree, you’ll be able to apply for a post-study work visa for up to one year after your graduation. Once you find a permanent job, you can then apply for a work permit.
