Who is the Master of Financial Risk Management for?
The Rotman Master of Financial Risk Management (MFRM) is a focused degree designed for quantitatively-strong students eager to hone their skills for the innovation-focused economy.
Basically, if you've got a head for numbers, and the world of finance interests you, you're probably a good fit for the MFRM.

Undergraduate background:
- Business and commerce: 55%
- Math: 26%
- Engineering: 5%

As you can see, if you've got some business, math, or economics experience, you'll be in good company!
Academics:
The average undergrad GPA for an MFRM student is 3.6 on a 4.0 scale — that's about 80% or so in percentage terms.
Many applicants also choose to sit the GMAT or GRE, which are standardized tests for graduate school. The average score is 717, but neither the GMAT nor the GRE are required for admission to the MFRM!
Work experience:
About 53% of the MFRM class has some work experience prior to pursing their MFRM, and 26% are working towards a professional designation, like a Chartered Financial Accountant or Financial Risk Manager. No experience? No problem! You'll have plenty of time to sharpen your skills as you work towards your degree.
MFRM: A risk worth taking
Rotman's Master of Financial Risk Management program boasts an 88% employment rate six months after graduation, meaning you could start in September, graduate in June, and be working in risk management by January!
