Discover what your future may look like at York University!
Are you thinking of joining York University? Whether you're starting university for the first time, pursuing a second degree, transferring from another institution, or returning to your studies after some time off, York offers many different pathways for you to find the perfect fit. York's inclusive, diverse campus community will help you find opportunities and support to succeed as you get ready for the next chapter of your life. Here's why you should choose York.
1. Academic excellence and flexibility
At York, you can choose a unique degree path from over 200 programs. Dedicated to innovation and experiential learning, York students learn from established professors across all disciplines at their 25 Research Centres and Institutes.
Are you unsure about what type of degree or program to choose? York gives you the flexibility to choose courses that you are passionate or curious about, allowing you to pursue two majors in unrelated areas of interest across different Faculties. This means that you can customize your undergraduate degrees to suit your career interests.
2. A career-focused education
At York, you can explore paid internships, co-ops, international exchanges, volunteering, work/study opportunities, online workshops, networking events and more. Looking for a hands-on experience? York's experiential learning opportunities will help you develop practical skills and build a professional network needed to excel in the workplace anywhere in the world.
York's Career Education & Development offers a host of services like job postings, career fairs, peer mentorship, workshops on resumé and cover letter writing, job search and networking strategies, alumni networking meets and much more! While these events normally take place in-person, during COVID-19, these events have moved online.
One of the best ways to network is to work while you study! Choose from the 1,900 student jobs available on campus at York University every year! Students can take advantage of York's Work/Study program in part-time roles, Research at York (RAY) positions to join faculty research projects, the Leadership, Engagement & Ambassadorship Program (LEAP) to work as an ambassador on campus, or York's Internship program.

3. Exciting student life in Canada's biggest city
Did you know that York has two TTC subway stations at the Keele Campus? With both campuses located in central Toronto, Canada's largest city is truly at your fingertips. You can attend your morning lectures, hop onto the subway, hang out in downtown Toronto and be back on campus for an afternoon tutorial!
It's easy to get around Keele and Glendon campuses by bike, car, carpooling programs as well as public transportation. Keele Campus is a self-sufficient community with walking paths, a pond, woodlots and 90 buildings including academic and athletic facilities, residences, student services, a mall and over 40 restaurants and shops!
The Glendon Campus is a serene getaway in midtown Toronto. Known for its beautiful rose gardens, our bilingual campus is the Centre of Excellence for French-language & bilingual postsecondary education in southern Ontario.
While we understand that university can be a big place, York is one of the few universities in Canada that has the college system! This system makes a big university like York feel tight knit. All undergraduates are assigned to a college as their "home base" to study, hang out and feel part of a close-knit group within the York community.
York's 300+ official student clubs provide new students with the perfect chance to meet new friends and enjoy an extracurricular activity that suits their interests. You can also track your campus involvement on your York Co-Curricular Record, which is a great addition to any resume!
