OCAD University 2024 Summer Workshops

Create In-Studio with OCAD U.

Looking for ways to stay creative and develop a portfolio over the summer?

OCAD University’s summer workshops are 5-day studio experiences dedicated to emerging artists and designers ages 15 and up who are considering post-secondary education in a creative industry or field. Spend time on the main campus, work in creative studios, and learn from OCAD U faculty who will guide and support you in developing your own unique practice.

Programming dates

This workshop will run three times throughout the summer*. Registration is open and will remain open until spots are filled.

• Program Option 1: July 8 – 12, 2024
• Program Option 2: July 15 – 19, 2024
• Program Option 3: July 22 – 26, 2024

*Please note the same workshop is running for each week, meaning content remains the same.

What to expect

Each day from Monday to Friday, you will be in a different workshop taught and designed by our OCAD U instructors: practicing artists and designers who are also faculty in OCAD U’s undergraduate programs.

These workshops take a hands-on, multi-disciplinary approach that will further your concepts, techniques, and knowledge of contemporary art and design practice. Experience the variety of programs OCAD U has to offer and make use of the creative resources curated for participants.

This year, the program will include:

• Observational and Narrative based Life Drawing
• Experimental Plant- Based Photography
• Designing a Paper Light Sculpture or Lampshade
• Collaborative Zine Making through Risograph
• Illustrative Techniques and Exploration in the Sketchbook
• A guided tour at ONSITE Gallery
• How to write an Artist Statement and Bio
• A talk from a visiting Artist and/or Designer
