The aim of this course is to have students understand that all media presents a construction of reality, and that these constructions have an impact on the way we think, act and live our lives as members of a society.
Today's students face enormous challenges in having to make sense out of a vast amount of information which is communicated by television, film, radio, print, advertising, social media and the world wide web. Each of these mediums competes for our limited and increasingly fragmented attention. To deal competently with these demands, students must be media literate. Thy must learn to choose wisely, to think critically, and to interpret closely the messages that modern media present. |
