As populations around the globe continue to urbanize, there are important and under-studied phenomena that affect both those in urban environments and those in the peripheral rural settings. Regions are being increasingly recognized as important for the social, economic, and cultural wellbeing of people and communities, and this program explores the many opportunities and challenges facing people who find themselves outside of the internationally interconnected global cities. |

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Applicants to the master’s program are expected to hold: the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree from UBC, with a B+ (76%) average or better in their third- or fourth-year classes, or at least 12 credits in third- and fourth-year classes in their intended field of study, with an A (80%) or better average.
