PhD in Medical Sciences (Periodontics) is offered for post-DDS/DMD applicants. The time required to complete the PhD will vary according to the previous training of the applicant and the nature of the research undertaken; however, a minimum of six years is required with six to seven years being the expected norm.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Candidates are accepted under the general regulations of the Medical Sciences Graduate Program. Completion of a DDS or equivalent dental professional designation and at least one year of experience as a licensed dentist within five years prior to the start of the program is required with a grade point average of at lease 3.0 (or equivalent qualification) in the last 60 units of course weight of their dental program. At least one year of experience as a licensed dentist within five years prior to the start of the program is also required. Preference will be given to candidates who present a master's of science degree. A suitable supervisor must be identified to support the applicant.
