Art History and World Art Studies at UEA is a research-led, interdisciplinary department engaging such global challenges as climate change, coloniality, and continuing economic and political inequalities. Our postgraduate students are supported by supervisory teams composed of at least two staff members. They work at the heart of a vibrant research culture, enjoying access to the renowned Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and participating in the weekly World Art Research Seminar. We welcome proposals for postgraduate research projects in a variety of areas, with staff specialisms including:
• Art, environmentalism, and human-animal relations
• Contemporary art
• Cultural heritage and climate studies
• Decolonisation, restitution and postcolonial studies
• Medieval art, architecture, and material culture
• Museum studies, curatorial practice and archives
• Photography and artists’ film
