As one of its objectives, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) prioritizes the protection of Canadian society from persons who pose a danger to that society, who engage in activities that violate international human rights, who might impose a heavy burden on social services, who have failed to comply with immigration law or who have provided false information to immigration authorities. Any of the above persons are inadmissible as temporary or permanent residents unless they obtain an exemption to overcome their inadmissibility. This course covers inadmissibility categories in great detail, assisting immigration practitioners to become proficient in this area of Canadian Immigration Law. Emphasis is placed on both the applicable legislation and case law.
