The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Ethics is a three-year program intended for regular students and professionals seeking an in-depth university education in Ethics. Following the first year of studies, this degree with an optional minor in Ethics gives the students the possibility of pursuing their studies with an in-depth knowledge of ethical issues. The general academic objective of the program is to provide a good level of knowledge of major current philosophical movements, issues and philosophical systems, and to foster analytic skills for ethical problems through case studies. Particular attention is given to understanding the ways in which ethics is applied to some specific disciplines and issues, including science, gender issues, philosophy of law, political philosophy and philosophy of economics.
This program will allow graduates to work as ethics specialists in various fields, including government, business, defence, health and science. Professional candidates may have some courses credited depending on experience. The evaluation of the experience is done on a case-by-case basis by the Dean of the Faculty. The program may include a one-month practical internship in India with the NGO SOPAR, in a program of international cooperation, or a three-month internship with the Permanent Mission of Holy See in the United Nations. Both internships provide the interns with the occasion to deal in practical terms with issues of international development, human rights, education, social justice and peace. |
