This program provides you with the skills and knowledge to work with children and youth experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties. You will learn how to intervene and assess situations and formulate strategies to help children, youth, and their families identify and resolve concerns and enhance their quality of life. The program covers the dynamics of human development within a multicultural perspective. Courses include child and adolescent development, special issues affecting child and youth care, and care for children who have emotional or behavioural difficulties. |
Additional Admission Requirements: | Submit proof of completion of 50 hours of relevant volunteer or work experience. Relevant volunteer or work experience in Child and Youth Care means work with vulnerable, at-risk youth in a therapeutic community-based agency or a managed care program. This usually will not include work in day care settings or camps. |
