Description:

Chemistry is often described as a central science due to its focuses on the structure, properties, and synthesis of matter — which includes virtually everything from the plastics we use to the air we breathe, and from the water we drink to the medicine we take. By choosing to study chemistry at Acadia, you will become an important part of leading-edge research in small, hands-on classroom and laboratory environments. You may pursue an Honours BSc in chemistry, a BSc with major in chemistry, and a BSc with double major, as well as participate in Acadia's award-winning co-op program. Both the Honours BSc and BSc with major in chemistry are accredited by the Canadian Institute of Chemistry, which allows you to meet professional licensing standards after graduation.

Applicants are required to have English 12 or English 12: African heritage, and four additional Grade 12 Academic or Advanced courses, including; Precalculus 12 and Chemistry 12 (applicants without Chemistry 12 will be considered individually). Minimum overall average of 70%.
Test Scores:
  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90]
Application Notes : Since English is the language of instruction at Acadia University, candidates must be able to communicate competently in English both orally and in writing, and students whose first language is not English may be required to present the result of the TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or PTE Academic. Acadia's English requirements are as follows: TOEFL - 90 IBT with no subtest score below 20; IELTS - 6.5 with no subtest score below 6.0; CAEL - 70 with no subtest score below 60; PTE Academic - 61 with no subtest score below 60; Cambridge English: Advanced - 176 with no subtest score below 169; or MELAB - 80.
