In our four-year English program, students who are passionate about literature, reading, and writing study a range of periods and genres, including Medieval and Renaissance literature, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature, twentieth-century and contemporary literature, and North American literature, in courses covering fiction, drama, poetry, and criticism. They also study film, popular literature and culture, and creative writing. Students gain a critical understanding of texts, diverse perspectives, and values, and an appreciation of the significance of words, ideas, and genres. Students will develop the ability to think clearly, write convincingly and powerfully, and analyze critically, all key concepts sought after in the workplace and in graduate programs. |
