This program is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and basic skills to enter the Secondary Diamond Industries and in particular the diamond polishing industry. The program delivery will have a theoretical as well as practical component. Students will be able to choose which of the practical specialties would best suit their personal profile and skills.
The program provides students with the following courses: Introduction to diamonds, workplace essentials, applied mathematics, applied diamond crystallography, introduction to diamond grading and an introduction to diamond processing.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Students must have grade 10 or ABE 140 Math and English, submit a criminal records check, have good spatial aptitude and depth perception, good dexterity, excellent eyesight and patience with attention to minute details. Math skills, especially Geometry and basic Trigonometry would be an asset. |
