Pharmacy Assistants work alongside pharmacists to provide customer service, medication and other health care products to clients. Duties can also include maintaining prescription records, maintaining inventory for medication and pharmaceutical products. In some cases individuals in this role may be responsible for compounding, packaging and labeling of pharmaceutical products.This program provides an overview of the theory, principles, and practices of the Pharmacy Assistant. Areas of study include healthcare ethics, aseptic techniques, controlling inventory, and providing medication and other health care products. Notes: Certificates featured in the Pharmacy Assistant course: First Aid and CPR. Program length: ten months, includes a four week-long internship. |

A person who has a Secondary V degree or a D.E.P., or has received instruction deemed acceptable by the College and who meets one of the following requirements may be admitted to a program leading to an A.E.C.: - The person's studies have been interrupted for at least two consecutive terms or one school year. - The person is covered by an agreement entered into by the College and an employer or by a government program. - The person has completed at least one year of post-secondary studies spread over a period of one year or more. |
