Law Clerks play an important role in the legal profession, working directly under the guidance of a Lawyer. Law Clerks are responsible for routine legal and administrative work, and may assist a Lawyer with more complex legal matters. Law firms, government offices and l.gal departments employ Law Clerks to offer services to their clients at lower costs. This program provides an overview of legal principles, practices and procedures. Areas of study include legal office procedures, Corporate Law, Wills and Estates, Family Law, Real Estate, Litigation and the practical application of Law Clerk responsibilities. Note: this program is twelve months long and includes a four week-long internship. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. A person who has a Secondary V degree or a D.E.P., or has received instruction deemed acceptable by the College and who meets one of the following requirements may be admitted to a program leading to an A.E.C.: - The person's studies have been interrupted for at least two consecutive terms or one school year. - The person is covered by an agreement entered into by the College and an employer or by a government program. - The person has completed at least one year of post-secondary studies spread over a period of one year or more. |
Application Notes : | Minimum of a Canadian high-school grade 12 or equivalent, or a mature student. Applicants must pass an entrance assessment administered by Herzing College and complete a detailed interview regarding interest in the field. |
