Psychology at Waterloo is a world class department in one of Canada’s best universities. Founded in the early 1960s, the Department has grown to become one of the most esteemed Departments of Psychology in Canada. The University of Waterloo (UWaterloo) is consistently ranked as the most innovative and as among the top three comprehensive universities in Canada. Situated in Southern Ontario, about 100 km (60 miles) west of Toronto, UWaterloo is in the thriving high-tech community of Kitchener/Waterloo, two cities with a combined population of around 300,000.
The Department of Psychology includes 42 faculty members, approximately equally divided over six major research areas: Clinical, Cognitive, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental, Industrial/Organizational, and Social. We have over 800 undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and over 400 pursuing a Psychology Minor. Our faculty and our graduate program are internationally renowned. |

A 80% overall standing, or equivalent, in the last two years of study in the previous degree is the minimum requirement for admission. Please note that in most areas a Master’s degree is not required for admission into the PhD program (the exception is Social Psychology and Clinical Psychology). |
