The Veterinary Assistant Diploma program is six and a half months in length, consisting of five and a half months of theoretical and clinical study and one month of practicum arranged for you by West Coast College. A veterinary assistant is a vital component of the animal health care team. Graduates have the skills to work in a variety of places: veterinary clinics and hospitals, emergency and critical care facilities, laboratories, animal welfare and wildlife shelters, animal retail industry and animal boarding or kennel facilities. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Applicants must have completed high school or a GED, or be at least 19 years of age. A pre-admission interview and English and math assessment are also required. Applicants must satisfactorily complete a criminal records search. Proof of a negative TB test is required. A 5-year Tetanus shot is recommended. |
