Description:

In the Kinesiology program, you go well beyond the questions of how and why we move, and start to explore how we can optimize the human potential for health, performance, and overall wellness.

In your first and second year, you learn foundational topics such as human anatomy, sport psychology, biomechanics, and human nutrition, as well as physical activity, health, and fitness. You explore a variety of fields that may be of interest before choosing to specialize in exercise science, pedagogy, or active health.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade11 Precalculus  or  Grade11 Foundations for College Mathematics (MAP4C)  or  Grade11 Principles of Mathematics 
  • 2 of  Grade12 Biology  or  Grade12 Chemistry  or  Grade12 Physics 
  •  Grade11 Health and Physical Education 
Applicants are required to have: B.C. Secondary School graduation or equivalent, the prerequisites for ENGL 105 or CMNS 125, the prerequisites for STAT 104 or STAT 106, and one of Biology 12, Chemistry 12, or Physics 12 with a minimum C+ grade (see Note 2). Physical Education 11 and/or 12 recommended (see Note 3).
Note 1: Students who are upgrading to meet entrance requirements must provide proof of upgrading to OReg at the time of application. Note 2: Students following the Exercise Science specialization will need to meet the prerequisite for BIO 111. Note 3: Students following the Pedagogy specialization are highly recommended to take PE 11 and/or PE 12, or have participated in athletic or recreational physical activity.
