Description:

The University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry, in conjunction with university affiliated teaching hospitals (BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre) offers postgraduate residency training in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology (OM-OP). The program consists of a three to four-year hospital-based residency in one of three pathways: Oral Medicine; Oral Pathology, or both the specialties. All programs lead to a certificate and eligibility to take the Royal College of Dentists (Canada) Fellowship examinations. Residents wishing to have dual certification in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology will require four years of training.

    Once accepted to the OMOP program, candidates must satisfy the requirements of the BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) for registration. Graduates of all Canadian and American dental schools are eligible to apply. Foreign-trained dentists, other than U.S. trained graduates, if accepted to the program, must apply and satisfy the requirements of the BCCOHP to obtain a Limited (Postgraduate) permit.
