Description:

Learn the skills and earn the credentials to carry you higher in your emergency services career. Develop integrated management and leadership skills through 19 required modules, 6 electives and 2 practicums. As an added benefit, this program is part-time and online. You can continue to work full-time.

    These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

      There are 2 ways to be admitted to the program.


    • Direct entry - You graduated from an emergency services related diploma program.
    • Indirect entry - You must have a minimum of 1,200 hours of emergency services related course work and training. We use official transcripts as part of that assessment.

      You should have at least 5 years of industry experience.

    • Test Scores:
      • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 86] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.0] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 80]
      Application Notes : Lakeland College classes are taught in English, so you'll need adequate written and oral English skills to be admitted to one of our programs regardless of your citizenship status or country of origin. If English is your second language, you must show English proficiency through one of the following: 1. Meeting program admission requirements, 2. Admission by special status, or 3. An acceptable score on one of: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - minimum of 86 on the iBT exam and a minimum score of 21 in each of the four tested areas. If your program requires spoken language proficiency you will need a minimum of 26 points in the speaking component; IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - minimum score of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 on each band score; CAEL (Canadian Assessment of English Language) - minimum score of 60 overall with at least 60 on each band score; MELAB (Michigan English Assessment Battery) - minimum score of 80 with no component less than 76. Must include the speaking test.

      For direct entry into this applied degree program, you must satisfy two criteria. 1) You may be eligible for direct entry if you graduated from one of these two-year diploma programs: Emergency Services Technology; EMT-P (Advanced Care Paramedic); Correctional Service Diploma; Policing Program Diploma; Corrections Program Diploma; or any other emergency services related diploma. 2) You must have a minimum of 3 years--but 5 years is preferred--of full-time work experience in the emergency services industry.

      For indirect entry into the applied degree program, you must satisfy two criteria. 1) You will be assessed on the basis of transfer credits and official transcripts. You must have at least 1,200 hours of emergency services training. You will be required to supply proof of training including the number of hours and a detailed description. A course syllabus may be required for evaluation. 2) You must have a minimum of 3 years--but 5 years is preferred--of full-time work experience in the emergency services industry.
