Trades Discovery programs are designed to allow participants extensive access to the available trades and technical training at BCIT campuses. These highly practical and relevant training programs prepare participants to successfully enter and complete trades/technical training or seek apprenticeship.
Students gain hands-on experience in approximately 20 different trades. Some examples of activities they complete are: installing hot water tanks, framing a small house, welding, wiring three-way switches and working on mechanical systems in automobiles, aircraft, and heavy equipment. The programs include two weeks of unpaid work experience, partnering education with industry and the community. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent or take the Trades Pre-Entry Test for math and English. Once students have met the entrance requirements they will be invited to an Information Assessment Session by letter from BCIT Admissions. |
