Description:

The Engineering Certificate program provides students with a comprehensive first-year university transfer program in engineering and is aimed at strong academic high school graduates and highly motivated post-secondary science students.

In this one-year certificate, you'll take an introduction to engineering course and courses in technical drafting and CAD, engineering design and materials science.

Successful completion of this program ensures that students who transfer to an engineering degree program at another institution in British Columbia typically require only three additional years of study to complete their degree.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    High school graduation. English Studies 12 (C-) or English 12 (C-) or English First Peoples 12 (C-). Pre-calculus 12 (A) or Calculus 12 (B) and Pre-calculus 12 (B) or Math 105 (C-) or BMTH 054 (B) or Math Placement Test (Calculus MPT). Physics 12 (B) or PHYS 104 (C) or BPHY 054 (B). Chemistry 12 (B) or CHEM 101 (B) or BCHM 054 (B).

Application Notes : English is the language of instruction at CapU. All applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. If English is not your first language or you've received your education in a language other than English, you must meet our English Language Requirements.
    Additional Admission Requirements:

      Admission notes:
Students with less than 67% in English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12 will be required to write the Capilano University English Diagnostic Test (EDT) or Language Proficiency Index (LPI) prior to registering in an English course.

Admission is competitive, so meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Current Grade 12 students can be conditionally accepted based on final Grade 11 grades or interim Grade 12 grades. Students can upload proof of grades (e.g. unofficial transcripts, copies of report cards) through EducationPlannerBC when applying to Capilano University. Final acceptance will be based on high school graduation and having met the program specific requirements.

Note: All B.C. applicants must release their grades to CapU via the BC Ministry of Education at Student Transcripts Services (STS). Please do this as soon as possible.
