Description:

By choosing to study politics at Acadia, you’ll transform and deepen your understanding of power and governance – from local to international. You will be able to become a more engaged citizen, and understand the workings of political systems to be able to make a difference within or outside of government. Studying politics focuses your attention on the pressing problems of our times and the potential for changing them. Acadia offers courses that develop the analytical skills, theories, and knowledge necessary for you to understand power, culture, law, policy, and government in Canada and around the world. Our courses engage with contemporary issues, including peace and war, environment, development, and media.

Applicants are required to have English 12 or English 12: African heritage, and four additional Grade 12 Academic or Advanced courses. Minimum overall average of 70%.
Test Scores:
  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90]
Application Notes : Since English is the language of instruction at Acadia University, candidates must be able to communicate competently in English both orally and in writing, and students whose first language is not English may be required to present the result of the TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or PTE Academic. Acadia's English requirements are as follows: TOEFL - 90 IBT with no subtest score below 20; IELTS - 6.5 with no subtest score below 6.0; CAEL - 70 with no subtest score below 60; PTE Academic - 61 with no subtest score below 60; Cambridge English: Advanced - 176 with no subtest score below 169; or MELAB - 80.
